Elijah is both my chosen name and the title of my project. Being transgender is an integral part of my identity and affects every day of my life. From self-injections to the overwhelming negativity and debate surrounding my existence, being transgender is a constant battle I and many other transgender people must fight to maintain our right to happiness. The aim of my project and exhibition is to offer viewers a look into the realities and struggles of such a life. I want to offer a brief step into my shoes and shift at least one person’s negative view of transgender people into one of understanding.
